As the proud father of most of the girls that invented the modern term “crunchy” I loved this post. This term showed up in my house out of nowhere almost 20 years ago. I probably heard it’s use for a year or more before I asked about it. I love that words can be repurposed for greater insight.
While you sighted many fine examples I will add my favorite. Years ago your girlfriend and I were working on a puzzle. When she gound and inserted key pieces she would say “so crunchy”. So I had to ask why this experience was “crunchy”. I was informed that she received joy in finding the piece and the look sound and feel of installing the piece was so satisfying. So I learned that while an object can be “crunchy” so too can an experience. When they say “crunchy” I hear satisfying !
