My husband came up with a few rule changes to consider. He's been getting pretty good feedback: 1) The pitcher should get extra time on the pitch clock if they’re old; e.g. one second for every year above 30. 2) The pitcher should get 5 extra seconds on the pitch clock if he gives up a home run so he can stomp around the mound in anger. 3) If the pitcher gives up a home run, he should get to race the batter around the bases. If he finishes first, the home run doesn’t count.

Your husband has a little too much time on his hands..

It was actually stream of consciousness after Kershaw gave up a homer. 90 seconds tops.

Great blog about one of my favorite sports! And I like the new rules. It does speed up the game but I'm not sure if I like the larger base size.

The Camelshits opening day for their 50th year of playing softball in the LA Park and Recreation league is April 12. I'll miss the fun and excitement of being the team manager as we have moved to the Santa Ynez Valley. But the Camelshit legarcy will continue and just like MLB there is optimism at the beginning of each season but no $17 beers.

Baseball and Ice hockey are my favorite sports.... the NBA and NFL not so much. But even so I still to follow them from afar and without too much interest. NBA and NFL players are horrible role models for our youth which is the main reason I feel this way. I don't like generalizing and perhaps not all players are poor role models but way too many are in the news for shady and illegal behavior.

I think that since the early 2000s, NBA players have been incredible role models for kids! The NBA is really in a wonderful place with tons of marketable stars who are smart, well-spoken, and socially conscious

Opening day is, for me, the real official first day of Spring. Attending the game used to be an iffy proposition given Wisconsin weather in early April. Now we have a dome which is great except someone forgot to tell the person in charge of this year's festivities who scheduled a B-1 bomber flyover, that the roof would be closed. Ahh, baseball.
