So I really loved this post. Especially loved the photo. Holidays with five kids have always been pretty hectic. Not always in a good way. But four of them are grownup and on their own and our youngest who is still at home is still young even at 17 almost 18 because of his Down syndrome. I’m starting to enjoy holidays again without all the stress.
Thanksgiving was always my husband’s favorite and usually was out of town and had to fly in to make or My son had a hockey tournament somewhere out of town and we had dinner in a hotel somewhere. My favorites were when just the 4 of us went to Aspen Co and I would cook a full dinner it was so perfect and special. This year we have a new baby to be thankful for. My son and his wife have a 6 month old son Steven Carmine. Or Carmi He is what I’m thankful this year.
Damn…Beer Pong..why didn’t we think of that..Thanksgiving is a big deal among the Rodli clan as well.. this year was the first one where the “youngins” stepped up and cooled most of the meal…
Love this post! We hosted Thanksgiving for 42 years, sometimes as many as 25 people, until this year daughter and son-in-law took it over. I’m thankful for that! For a while, the tradition was not going around the table with the usual “what I’m thankful for” but instead “my most embarrassing moment in the past year.” Not sure how that started, or stopped.
Love your crackers tradition. We have them at many family gatherings. Very fun.
But one question…Is this post all just a front for your humble brag on winning the beer pong tourney?
You saw right through my ruse! I thought it would be a little too much to write an entire post with a shot by shot run through of our journey to a championship...but this worked almost perfectly as cover!
Thanksgiving is our family's holiday of choice. No religious ceremonial differences. No gift giving value judgments. No songs with lyrics to remember. Just amazing food, gallons of adult beverages, and a few silly games. Too bad it only comes once a year.
What a joy it is to get together with a family where everyone genuinely cares about each other, and to see that family expanding as the years go by. I love our Thanksgivings and am more grateful for them every year. A wonderful post!
can confirm Mrs. Peterman is a pro at beer pong

Sounds like your Thanksgiving event was an astronomical and gastronomical success!!!
