Whenever I'm house-sitting in a home with a dishwasher I LOVE waiting until it's full to the brim to run it. It's so much more satisfying than having a sink full of dirty dishes.
Susan, I am so with you on the dishwasher. Filling it perfectly is one of my greatest joys. Have you ever seen "Rachel Getting Married" with that incredible dishwasher loading scene?
I love a new sponge so much!! I buy them in bulk and try to change it often (ideally before it starts to fall apart/ smell.) As for toothbrushes, I was gifted an electric one a few years ago and a new brush head shows up on my doorstep every 3 months. It’s a luxury I wish I had discovered sooner. Some more things I also enjoy in no particular order - cleaning out the filter in the washing machine, changing the bed sheets, a new Brita filter, a towel straight from the dryer, cleaning out the fridge… I can go on for quite a while.
My favorite feeling is finishing a product and getting to replace it with a new one. But it has to be one that you can fuuuully use up, like a shampoo or toothpaste. Everyone needs to buy a tube wringer because those babies change the game for getting every last bit of product
I love my tube wringer. Just squeezed the last little bit of toothpaste out of my Colgate Total and felt a small twinge of triumph over the Colgate Palmolive Corporation and their transparently wasteful packaging.
My equivalent of the sponge renewal dilema is deciding when to put a pair of jeans in the wash. Calculating when they've had enough food droppings, wrinkles, body contact, and weather related calamities to warrant a trip to the wash machine is always a connumdrum. Now that I'm thinking of it, I'm off to the laundry room!
Great call, they definitely don't need to be washed after every wear but there's a fine line where you realize that mustard stain is a liiiiitle too conspicuous to leave
New socks, new underwear, oooo, new vacuum cleaner bags, that's always exciting and...my God, what's happened to me? In my youth the best thing was a new baseball glove. Now? It would have to be a new golf club. The older we get, the fewer toys interest us, and a new driver is a thing of beauty.
It's fascinating how we get drawn into buying a new driver by a manufacturer who convinces us the state-of-art one they sold us on a couple of years ago is now a piece of shit.
I will put the sponge in the dishwasher to give it extra life, but breaking out a new one is definitely a joy. And I have a pretty regular schedule when to do it. I have the goal of a schedule with my toothbrush, but can never remember. I'm not ready to cross over into "mark your calendar" nerd territory...yet. We just got new pillowcases (due to chocolate stains -- are you spying on me!). Comphy brand. Insanely soft and not that expensive. As for socks, just one word. Bombas.
Why am I not surprised to learn you have a sponge schedule? I am shocked, however, to find you don't have one for your toothbrush. For other readers, let me just say, this is one of the most organized people I have ever met.
That's a great one! I recently got my windshield wipers replaced and I knew they were old but only once I got the new ones did I realize how truly shit the old ones had been! Crystal clear now!
Fully filling the dishwasher. Nothing like a load of clean dishes! The downside is putting them all away.

I have a similar toothbrush subscription and it is SO nice not having to think about it! And that fresh Brits water is to die for.

That wringer really is magic, and so satisfying!

YESS so happy to know you’re a fellow enthusiast!

the vacuum cleaner bag is a great call. Only once you replace it do you realize how little of that horsepower you were really making use of!

Ooo these are great suggestions, I'll have to check out Bombas and Comphy!

Effing billionaires and their fresh socks. I swear.
My version of the new sponge is when I wash the inside of my windshield. Yeah, baby, that pup is sparkling!

We're all just sponges absorbing WDB if you really think about it.
