A fascinating description of what it’s like to live with the mythology of a distant past that was actually just a few years ago. Things change so rapidly now that it’s starting to feel that way for all of us. I live in terror of your kids, should you have any, asking what snow was.
The accelerating pace of change has become almost a cliche (meme?) for us. The current musings suggest that humans are close to reaching their limit in being able to make sense of our changing world, and navigate through it. Maybe this is one of those "Stop and smell the roses" moments? Anyone who flew, or travelled internationally pre-9/11 sorely misses those heady days of freedom. Adding the pandemic has clamped down further on our ability to relax and enjoy life, throw in climate change, and it's easy to perceive the slippery slope to ruination. But, most humans are optimists by nature, so we can hope that enough people will see the promise of the future to want to make it happen. Until then, we may have to rely on streaming services and virtual travel for our escape and amusement.
I still have a desire to waer a tie on the plane, that's how old I am. Now, I sit next to a guy wearing a f**k the world t-shirt (I wonder what those **s stand for? om his shirt) and another who clips his toe-nails. Bring back Hugh Hefner.

I'm assuming at this point that there will be a Mad Max portion of the driving test for my kids
"One foot on the platform, the other on the train."
