and as for picking what to watch - this is always an issue. and so now we compromise. the other person can pick whatever they want tonight, and tomorrow the other one gets to pick. (there are always veto’s however.)
In a relationship, always good to alternate who has control of the remote and the selection. Homes have been broken when someone becomes a TV tyrant. Of course, sometimes, let's face it, nothing seems right. In which case I recommend...reading a book! Which, I know, presents another host of problems. But, to quote the immortal words of Miles in Risky Business, "sometimes you gotta say, 'what the fuck,' make your move."
As a philosophy major, we even discussed 'is this blue its own blue or something universal.' How can you possibly decide that. The answer: watch Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
One nice thing about getting older and being with a mate you love ... you fall into a predictable pattern. One bad thing is that you fall into a predictable pattern. Italian take-out or David cooks. A series that we are bingeing (after Jeopardy of course) or if not, then a series we can mock and laugh at.
