I know some of you have already checked out and that’s fine, but we HAVE to talk about the Supreme Court. Last week when the earth-shaking leak of a draft overturning of Roe v Wade came out, I was in Cabo for a good friend’s bachelor party, needless to say the mood was markedly more somber after the news broke. So, I’ve been stewing on my feelings for a little over a week, and I’m glad because it gave me a chance to mellow out and really get introspective. In my advanced age I think I’ve become a little more measured and a little more cautious with what I put out there, so with all that in mind: FUCK THIS SUPREME COURT AND FUCK ANYONE WHO DOESN’T BELIEVE IN REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, WOMEN’S RIGHTS AND HUMAN RIGHTS.
Excellently said, sir. Our Supreme Court used to be made of very thoughtful introspective and fully intelligent deep thinkers, whether you disagreed or agreed with them. The bar for that seems to get lower and lower. Personally, if I had to pick one person most responsible for what we are dealing with today it would be Mitch M… the very bottom scraping of what our Senate has become. The rest of the scrapings, don’t have time to say all their names, are just the seasoning on Mitch’s pile of crap.
Right on the money, Will!! Never stop giving us the truth. Most people can’t handle it. But the right people can! We used to be a smart country, but somehow we lost our common sense and integrity. You have to be an ignorant lost soul if you think it’s okay to govern a woman’s body! These people are so fucked up! If anyone disagrees, you need massive therapy before we even have a discussion! As someone who benefitted DIRECTLY from Roe vs. Wade a long time ago, when it was a critical and serious choice I believe I had to make, I want to thank you for your anger. Your outrage. I agree that the Supreme court has become a political entity. It is beyond sad, it is tragic. Thanks for the GQ article. Contribute to Planned Parenthood and there are gonna be some underground orgs offering transportation to states where abortion is still legal. Just FYI. Will keep you apprised.
Great article, Will! But don’t you think that we have to address where this problem is really coming from? And I think we can all agree that this problem is coming from the PENIS! I seriously think we need to consider vasectomies for all newborn males until at some point later in their lives they can prove they’re capable of dealing with sex in a responsible way!! Good that you feel this way, because you and your generation (and beyond) are clearly going to have to carry this struggle forward. I wish us Boomers had managed to turn all of our ideals into common understanding and practice, but the forces of regression and repression are extremely strong now (I detect a disturbance in th Force, Young Skywalker). And, yes, some humor is going to come in very handy too. So, get up, get going and get to work on this, you're all our only hope....
