I’m so sorry! You’ve inherited your hot-ness from my side of the family. That’s why your dad and I always go to some frigid location on vacation. A Caribbean island? Too hoooot! Palm Springs? Too hoooot! The Arctic? Ahhhhhhhh!
Early in our marriage my partner, a woman you know, dressed like some sort of devout and shy Amish lass with a circulation problem - a Lanz flannel nightgown, socks and a sweatshirt, under multiple blankets. I, on the other hand, dressed like I had malaria. Boxers and a t-shirt with often only the thinnest blanket. Weird. And even weirder when you think she grew up in sunny, hot California and I grew up in the often frozen tundra of Wisconsin. And then, at some point in the relationship our metabolisms did a Freaky Friday and now it's almost the reverse. But I would agree with your observation about feeling habitually more chilled being the better option. For both of us, there's nothing better than going to sleep in a room that feels cold to both of us and burrowing into a pile of blankets for warmth. Soooo nice. Until you have to get up.
Like you I have always had the hot disease. My whole life I have looked at people who wore sweaters, hoodies without a zippers etc and thought I will never be able to wear a cool hoodie. Older people seem to run cooler (my dad ran the air at 85 degrees in Palm Springs) so maybe when I’m 90 and eating jello I too can put on a cardigan. To dare to dream.
First, hilarious post. I run hot AND cold. If it’s not 74 degrees, I’m uncomfortable. I think it was Hemingway who said “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor and rich is better”. So I’ll say this, you are right, cold is better. Put on a sweater and don’t complain.
Did this start when you were young or at the adolescent 'turning point?' I have gone through many phases in my life. Too hot, too cold, loving cold weather then hating it, now at the age where lizarding in the sun is a perfect state of bliss. I imagine you too will have shifts. If not, then maybe you should just accept the fact you are ridiculously good looking and move on.
I too like the hot fudge sundae approach. Hot under the blankets surrounded by the cold air of the bedroom. My tolerance for cold has decreased exponentially as I've aged. I used to laugh at my dad when he'd dress up in flannel slacks, a wool shirt and cardigan sweater to go out in 110 degree weather in Scottsdale. I get it now!

The Lanz nightgowns - the best!
This essay SHOULD have been about how incredibly good looking you are. But I also loved it the way it was
I run both ways. I'm bitemperature.

Nick and I have the opposite situation - I'm always hot, and he's always cold 😅 best of luck as it starts to get hotter, my fellow sweaty person!
